Panamericana - The Longest Road in the World
The Panamericana is considered the longest road in the world. However, it is not a road in the classic sense. Just as little as the Silk Road, for example. Rather, the Panamericana is a network of 48,000 kilometers (26,000 NM) of highway in South and Central America, which branches off into various strands. The USA and Canada are not officially part of it, as is the south of South America. Despite this, there are also three sections in North America, which are mainly included for tourist purposes, but which are also used to transport goods to and from Central America. The route between Buenos Aires and Tierra del Fuego should also be considered.
For motorized tourists who love to travel such "traditional roads", it is certainly a longing to arrive at the northern or southern end of this road after weeks or months, enjoying the many tourist attractions and the constantly changing landscape that such a - one could almost say - "world tour" has to offer.
This package consists of 3 separate trips, North America, Central America and South America, and runs from north to south, from Deadhorse in northern Alaska to Ushuaia on the island of Tierra del Fuego. There are also 10 discovery flights via Vancouver, Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, Mexico City, Chichén Itzá, Panama, Santiago de Chile and Buenos Aires. In total, you will fly a distance of around 22,800 kilometers (12,300 NM). The route takes you over the frozen plateaus of Alaska, over the Canadian Rocky Mountains, to the west coast of the USA, along the Cordillera, over the Chilean Andes, through the pampas of Argentina, to the east coast of South America, one of the end points of the Panamericana. From there, you continue along the coast to the "end of the world", on the Argentinian side of the island of Tierra del Fuego. You will encounter lonely deserts of ice, sand and stone, majestic peaks, fantastic beaches, picturesque landscapes and cities worth seeing, such as Vancouver, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Santiago de Chile and Buenos Aires. You can also fly through all of the world's climate zones, whereby you can set the date, time and weather conditions yourself. Other options for flying are also customizable.
The texts are machine translated into English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil and Portugal), Chinese, Japanese, Dutch, Finnish, Norwegian, Swedish, Korean and Turkish. If you find any translation errors, please let us know.
There are 2 aircraft to choose from: the Cessna 208 Grand Caravan as standard, which can cover long distances relatively quickly and can also cope with short grass and gravel runways. If you prefer, you can use the PC-6 G950 for the same flight. I do not recommend faster airplanes because of some short runways, and smaller airplanes do not reach the altitude that is necessary in some places.
All flights can be found under Activities -> Custom Content. They have been designed and tested with World Updates II & X for the United States, WU XI Canada and WU XVI Caribbean, which are available free of charge for download on the marketplace and requires to be installed.
Have fun flying and exploring and always happy landings.
