Australia – All Sights

Part 1 – Northern Territory

On May 5, 2026, World Update XXI, Australia, was released, featuring many newly added POIs, AOIs, and airports. Reason enough to take a closer look at this continent once again. In this mission, you’ll encounter all the POIs and AOIs created so far for MS Flight Simulator, as well as the most iconic landscapes of the Northern Territory. The Northern Territory is characterized by extreme geography, deep cultural roots of the Indigenous people, and an extraordinary demographic structure. From the Top End with its tropical climate, the journey takes you to the Barkly Tablelands, a seemingly endless grassland, then into the vastness of the Simpson Desert, and culminating in the Red Centre with the famous Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. This journey from Croker Island to the landing at Ayers Rock Airport feels like a slow but steady glide through several worlds that do not abruptly give way to one another, but rather merge into one another like layers of a single, vast continent. It begins in the humid north, shaped by mangroves and tides, where coastlines curve gently and the culture of the Iwaidja fills the landscape with stories, and then leads step by step into an increasingly arid, more open land, where rivers become silvery furrows and places like Anthony Lagoon or Lucy Creek lie like islands in a sea of grass and red earth. With each leg of the flight, the landscape becomes clearer, harsher, older, until the Lasseter Highway cuts like a drawn line through salt lakes and vegetated dunes, and the great monoliths loom invisibly ahead. Curtin Springs marks the transition into that zone where geology itself becomes a narrative, and the direct course to Uluru finally opens up the space where light, rock, and silence speak a language of their own. The landing in Connellan is then not a conclusion, but a quiet entry into the heart of the Red Centre, as if, after a long approach, you were finally entering the innermost circle of an ancient, breathing land.
