Australia – All Sights
Part 3 – New South Wales
In the third part of World Update XXI, Australia, featuring many newly added POIs, AOIs, and airports, the journey takes you through Queensland and on to the Australian Capital Territory. In this mission, you’ll encounter all the POIs, AOIs, and airports created for Microsoft Flight Simulator to date, along with the most impressive landscapes of New South Wales. The flight from the Gold Coast to Mallacoota feels like a long, logically structured journey across the entire spectrum of eastern Australian landscapes—a journey that takes you from the subtropical coast through highlands, alpine regions, reservoirs, and valleys to the rugged southern coast. This creates a clear geographical arc. You take off from the dense, warm, urban-subtropical world of the Gold Coast, then climb into the open, dry highlands of the Northern Tablelands before experiencing the blend of agricultural landscape and cultural identity in Tamworth. Further south lie the vast Monaro grasslands, the cool, industrialized Snowy Mountains with their reservoirs, and finally the dramatic descent to the Sapphire Coast—a complete cross-section of climate, vegetation, and topography. The route reveals a rich cultural tapestry. From country music and equestrian sports in Tamworth, through the engineering history of the Snowy Mountains Scheme, to the whaling and port heritage of Eden, a mosaic of regional identities emerges, fitting together like chapters along a clear flight path. Each region possesses its own symbolism, which is particularly easy to discern from the air: rugged reservoirs, open highland ridges, coastal lagoons, deep natural harbors. Furthermore, a maritime finale of great clarity unfolds. Green Cape and Gabo Island mark the transition from the sheltered Twofold Bay to the open Bass Strait—two lighthouses that appear like vertical full stops at the end of a long, horizontal journey. Finally, Mallacoota lies like a calm, sheltered endpoint in a complex lagoon landscape that transforms the entire flight into a soft, light-flooded coastal geometry. Overall, the route is a complete East Coast narrative that connects landscape, technology, culture, and coastal space in a single, logically flowing line.Specifications:
