Tour of Europe from 1930
Historic flight with the Klemm L25 by Reinhold PoßThe European Tour 1930 (also known as the Challenge 1930) was the second international airplane competition of the FAI (French: Challenge International de Tourisme). It began on July 18 and ended on August 8, 1930 in Berlin, Germany. This competition took place four times between 1929 and 1934 and was a major aviation event in Europe between the world wars. The 1930 competition was the only challenge in which the rally was at the beginning. In the other competitions, there were some tests beforehand (technical test, wing folding, quick start tests of the aircraft engines, short take-off test and shortest landing). The rally covered 7,560 kilometers (4,080 nautical miles), in 29 legs through Europe. It ran from Berlin via Frankfurt am Main, via St. Inglevert near Calais, in France, on via London, United Kingdom, back to St. Inglevert and on to Paris, via Madrid and Seville, in Spain, to Vienna, Austria, via Prague, in the Czech Republic, on via Warsaw, in Poland, via the Russian city of Kaliningrad – then Königsberg – and back to Berlin. The rally started on July 20 at the former Berlin-Tempelhof airfield, which we revived for the occasion. Thank you very much Thomas. Reinhold Poß came in third overall that year with his Klemm L25. First and second place went to the British, Hubert Broad in the DH-60G biplane and John Carberry in the Monocoupe 90. The rally across Europe seemed relatively difficult for both aircraft and pilots. Only 35 of the 60 crews made it in the allotted time. Another seven crews finished the rally but were disqualified due to lateness or repairs.
Since there are no other planes with you, this mission is of course not about speed, but only about reliving this flight in a Klemm L25. Of course, you can do it together with your friends – this mission is designed for multiplayer. Since there was no electronic navigation at the time, this is a pure VFR flight. You can either use the descriptions in the navlog or turn on the route and waypoints in the support options. You will then be shown waypoints to fly to.
IMPORTANT! The Klemm L25 is payware and not included in this package. If you don't have it in your hangar, you can still fly the same route with the XCub.

All flights can be found under Activities -> Custom Content. Many functions are unlocked in the options with which you can customize your flight experience. Please note that some of the images shown below may contain objects from other 3rd party add-ons. This mission contains a lot of historical information and background (source: Arbeitsgemeinschaft Deutsche Luftfahrthistorik). Thank you very much for the information provided free of charge.
Have a good flight through Europe and always happy landings, Koschi.
