Advanced Challenges is a multi-faceted series where each release focuses on a specific aspect of extreme flying:

In this Episode - ADVANCED CHALLENGES - CARRIER LANDINGS Operations on aircraft carriers take place at the precise intersection of aerodynamics, timing, and spatial awareness. The approach path is narrow, the landing margin is measured in feet, and the deck beneath you is never completely still. This package focuses precisely on that unique and unforgiving phase of flight: twenty-four arrested landings on aircraft carriers stationed around the world.

Designed exclusively for Miltech Simulation’s Supercarrier Pro expansion, this is the first collection of missions entirely dedicated to aircraft carrier landings. Each scenario puts you at the controls of the default Boeing F/A-18E Super Hornet, but with a special, finely crafted livery.

The missions cover four distinct classes of aircraft carriers and nearly every maritime environment a simulation can offer. You’ll be able to approach Nimitz- and Ford-class supercarriers, recover aircraft aboard the French Charles de Gaulle, and squeeze onto the historic deck of the USS Intrepid like a needle through a thread.

Locations range from familiar U.S. domestic waters (San Diego, Bremerton, Norfolk) to unconventional and forward-deployment scenarios: anchoring in the Indian Ocean at Diego Garcia, coastal approaches to Busan, and the narrow maritime corridor off the coast of Saint-Pierre and Miquelon.

Every landing is a unique exercise in energy management and visual discipline. Runway movement, wind shear, and changing visibility alter the geometry of every approach. Success lies in maintaining a constant angle of attack, interpreting runway movement, and making corrections without following the ball’s trajectory. The difficulty is not artificial; it is simply the very nature of the task. It serves as a repeatable benchmark for pilots who wish to master the approach procedure, calibrate their visual scan, and measure their progress against a fixed operational standard.
