GUIDED TOUR - AUSTRALIA VFR A Cross-Country Tour of Eastern Australia

There is a version of Australia that cannot be seen from a jet at 35,000 feet, and cannot be understood from a car on the highway. It exists at low altitude, at walking pace by aviation standards, where the land below is close enough to read — its colours, its geometry, its scars and its water and its silence. This tour was built to access that version.

Twelve missions. A single continuous route from the irrigated riverlands of South Australia to the subtropical coast of Queensland, following the eastern spine of a continent that is, by any measure, one of the most geographically and historically loaded landscapes on Earth.

Every mission combines practical VFR flying with an evocative narrative. With over 150 audio recordings, your tour guide will provide information on the area’s natural and human history, as well as insights into specific points of interest as you explore one of the most fascinating states in the United States.

The tour spans colonial history from its earliest inland settlements to its convict-era coastal outposts, passes over infrastructure that reshaped a continent — the Snowy Mountains Scheme, the Murray–Darling irrigation network — and crosses national parks that hold ecosystems predating human arrival on the continent by millions of years. None of this is incidental to the flying. It is the flying.
