The Cessna 172 Skyhawk (SP) is a single-engine, 4-seat, light utility airplane manufactured by American aircraft producer Cessna, a Textron Aviation Company. The 172 Skyhawk (SP) features standard cockpit gauges. The Skyhawk took its maiden flight on June 12, 1955 and was introduced in 1956. The model, which remains in production, is the most prolific aircraft in history with more than 45,000 manufactured.
The Skyhawk was developed as a tricycle landing gear variant of the Cessna 170.
