“Lady B,” race number 41, came into existence on December 12, 1944 at North American Aviation’s Inglewood, California factory as a P-51D-30-NA bound for the U.S. Army Air Forces. Subsequent years saw it change hands a number of times. With a lineage of racing at Reno that dates to the 1960s, the airframe became “Lady B” in 2005. This beautiful war bird raced in Reno for the first time as Lady B in 2018, finishing 3rd place in the Silver Race with an average speed of 307.218 miles per hour. In 2021, Lady B placed 2nd in Unlimited Silver, with a blazing average speed of 317.043 miles per hour.
