The SR22 G6 is a single-engine, low-wing monoplane produced by American aviation company Cirrus Aircraft. The SR22 is the most advanced variant of the all-composite, 5-seat SR22 line of airplanes, which the company developed from their successful SR20 lineage. The SR series is the world’s best-selling line of general aviation aircraft and features a range of innovative features, notably the company’s ballistic parachute full-airframe recovery system, CAPS (Cirrus Airframe Parachute System). The G6, introduced in 2017, includes one of the most advanced avionics suites in the industry and other improvements, including distinctive Spectra™ LED navigation lights.
The SR22 G6 boasts a striking, elegant form that evolved through the design goal of optimizing aerodynamic efficacy and pilot efficiency. The unique combination of the aircraft’s advanced avionics, finely tuned powerplant, and its design and construction give the G6 its coveted suite of traits: it is forgiving throughout its entire range of operation, it is efficient for long duration flights, and it is a responsive performer. The SR22 G6 boasts the Cirrus Perspective+ flight deck, a Garmin-based sensor fusion system that provides aviators with the highest degree of situational awareness of all aircraft functions and its operating environment. The Perspective+ system integrates communications, engine performance, weather, and other data, and utilizes an intuitive interface that minimizes pilot workload. The aircraft’s flight systems grant pilots maximum control with minimum effort, and include the Cirrus “side yoke,” a feature unique in the aircraft’s class.
The G6 is the result of years of refinement of the SR lineage. It features a fixed tricycle undercarriage with wheel pants, a traditional empennage, a high-visibility cockpit, and a high-performance cuffed wing with small integrated winglets. It measures 26 feet in length, stands 8 feet, 11 inches tall, and has a wingspan of 38 feet, 4 inches. It is powered by a dual-turbocharged Continental TSIO-550-K 6-cylinder piston engine that delivers up to 315 horsepower to a composite 3-blade Hartzell constant-speed propeller. It has a range of 1,175 miles, a maximum operating altitude of 25,000 feet, and it climbs at 1,203 feet per minute. It has a full-flaps stall speed of 69 miles per hour, a maximum cruise speed of 245 mph, and a never-exceed speed of 300 mph.
