3.7/5 (49)

“Gotcha!,” Race Number 9, came into the world in 1942 as an AT-6D and served the United States Army Air Forces as a trainer. It was rebuilt as an SNJ-5 in 1960 for use by U.S. Navy aviators-in-training. The airframe began its Reno tenure in 1968, as Race 9, “Cum’n Thru!” Two years later, still #9, it competed as “Gotcha!” In 1974, Gotcha! finished in 1st place in the Championship Race, clocking an average speed of 211.35 miles per hour. Race 9 changed names a number of times since its 1974 win, returning to Gotcha! in 2016, the name it retains today.
