History:

The Caudron C.430 "Rafale" is a two-seater monoplane (or single-seater by closing the front seat), built by the company Caudron-Renault. It was designed by Marcel Riffard for the training of pilots who had to use racing machines like the Caudron C.362 or C450/460

The early history of the F-AMVB is less well known until November 30, 1934, when Hélène Boucher died at Guyancourt during a training flight at its controls. This addon is dedicated in memory of her.

The C.430 Rafale is a low-wing, single-engine, two-seat airplane produced by French aircraft company Caudron. Crafted of a combination of wood and fabric, Caudron built only two C.430s. The aircraft took its first flight on March 24, 1934 and set a world speed record of 181 miles per hour just days later.

The C.430 Rafale features tandem seating, a conventional fixed landing gear with a tailskid, and a standard empennage. Its main wing has a span of 25 feet, 3 inches and is swept on both its leading and trailing edges. The aircraft is powered by a single 4-cylinder Renault 4Pei engine, which uses an inverted inline configuration. The motor drives a metal, 2-blade, variable-pitch Ratier propeller with two pitch settings, adjustable in-flight.

The C.430 Rafale has a cruise speed of 160 miles per hour, a maximum speed of 190, and a landing speed of 60 mph. It has an impressive range of 620 miles, and a service ceiling of an even more impressive 19,000 feet above sea level.

A true gem of the Golden Age of Flight, the Caudron C.430 Rafale turns heads with its unique, standout looks and always delights pilots with its performance. A state-of-the-art speed machine of its day, the C.430 is best suited for aviators with at least an intermediate level of cockpit skills.
