"The C-130H Hercules is a four-engine, military tactical lift aircraft developed and manufactured by American aerospace company Lockheed. The airframe is one of the most versatile cargo and troop transport airplanes ever developed. The initial Hercules design was based on a 1951 United States Air Force requirement for a military transport aircraft capable of operating from unimproved airfields. Lockheed’s design, which took its first flight on August 23, 1954, overwhelmingly impressed the Air Force. The C-130 family has been developed into several variants through the years. It has served a large number of militaries and has operated in a variety of conflicts since its introduction in 1956. The H variant is based on the C-130E and has upgraded engines. The C-130H was introduced in June of 1974 and just over 300 were produced.

The C-130H has served military roles including transport, assault support, medical evacuation and transport, ISR (intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance) data collections, aerial refueling, paratroop insertion, special operations, and many others. It is flown by two and can carry up to 92 passengers, up to 42,000 pounds of cargo, or a combination. The aircraft is a legend due to its versatility, power, and ability to operate out of austere airfields in all types of environments. The aircraft has undertaken a wide range of missions on all seven continents.

The Hercules features a straight main wing with a span of 132 feet, 7 inches, a traditional empennage, and a fuselage that incorporates a rear loading ramp. It is powered by four wing-mounted Allison T-56-A-15 turboprop engines that each produce up to 4,590 horsepower. Each powerplant turns a 4-blade, constant-speed, reversible propeller. The C-130H has a maximum range of 4,600 miles, a service ceiling of 33,000 feet above sea level, a cruise speed of 336 miles per hour, and a maximum speed of 370 mph. "
