3.4/5 (108)

The next installment of the exclusive CS collection of the 777 airframe/engine variants is a digital replica of the Boeing 777-300ER Special Freighter.

With windows plugged, passenger doors deactivated, fuselage and floor reinforced, and a main-deck cargo door installed, the 777-300ERSF has 25% more volume than the 777F.

The 777-300ERSF is a twin-engine, long-range, wide-body cargo aircraft developed and manufactured by American aerospace company Boeing and converted to a freighter by Israeli Aerospace Industries. ERSF stands for Extended Range Special Freighter. The aircraft, called a “P2F” for passenger-to-freighter, is a conversion of a 777-300ER that was previously used for passenger carrying purposes.

The 777-300ER is the extended range version of the -300 variant of the 777. The 777-300 is a stretched variant of the base model 777, the 777-200, which took its first flight on June 12, 1994 and entered commercial service on June 7, 1995. Boeing delivered the first 777-300ER on April 29, 2004. The 777-300ER is the best-selling variant of the 777 family of aircraft with more than 800 deliveries.

Boeing began a study of a 777-300ER freighter variant in 2018, ultimately deciding to partner with Israeli Aerospace Industries to undertake a conversion program. The aircraft, dubbed the “Big Twin,” took its maiden flight on March 24, 2023.

The 777-300ERSF features state-of-the-art digital flight management and diagnostics systems, fly-by-wire controls, and a glass cockpit. The aircraft measures 242 feet, 4 inches in length, has a fuselage width of 20 feet, 4 inches, and it stands 60 feet, 8 inches from the ground to the top of its vertical stabilizer. It has a swept main wing with a span of 212 feet, 7 inches and is powered by two wing-mounted General Electric GE90-115B high-bypass turbofan engines, each delivering up to 115,300 pounds of thrust.

The 777-300ERSF conversion includes plugged windows, reinforced floors, and a large cargo door on the left side of the rear fuselage. It has a maximum payload capacity of 223,990 pounds and a cargo volume of 28,900 cubic feet. It has 47 ULD (unit load device) positions between its upper and lower decks.

The aircraft has a range of 5,200 miles (fully loaded), a service ceiling of 43,100 feet above sea level, a cruise speed of 554 miles per hour, and a maximum speed of 587 mph.
