4.5/5 (153)

From the creator of helicopters for X-Plane, such as the 206B3, 206L3, 222B, 222UT, 500E and H125/AS350B3e, the CowanSim 206L3 is the fourth helicopter of the fleet to come to Microsoft Flight Simulator. Cowan Simulation strives for perfection and continuously updates their fleet using valuable feedback from pilots around the world. The 206L3, and subsequent releases, will continue to be developed using that valuable information. CowanSim's flight models are pilot tested, approved and developed with the Microsoft Flight Simulator SDK. No external flight model/dynamics or programs are used to provide a seamless user experience.

Options like the Cineflex camera, passengers, medical version, spot light and more are available through the weight and balance settings window. The 206L3 comes with 59 liveries, and an easy to use paint kit is provided in both GIMP and Adobe Photoshop formats.

There is a start up checklist located in the main folder (PC) to get you going from cold and dark start. You can also access options, like the passengers and more, from the weight and balance window.

The 206L-3 LongRanger III is a single-engine utility helicopter produced by American rotorcraft manufacturer Bell Helicopter. It is a member of the Bell 206 JetRanger family of helicopters developed in the early 1960s and introduced in 1967. The LongRanger III is crewed by one and can carry up to six passengers.

The 206L-3 is the third iteration of the LongRanger program. Developed in 1973, the LongRanger is a medium-lift, extended cabin version of the JetRanger II. The first LongRanger flew on September 11, 1974 and deliveries began in October of 1975. The 206L-3 LongRanger III was introduced in 1982 and Bell manufactured a total of 612 of them.

The LongRanger III has an overall length of 42 feet, 3 inches, has a fuselage length of 34 feet, 3 inches, and stands 10 feet, 4 inches high. It has a 2-blade main rotor system with a diameter of 37 feet, and a 2-blade tail rotor. It is powered by an Allison 250-C30P (Rolls Royce M250) turboshaft engine that delivers 650 shaft horsepower. The LongRanger III has a maximum take-off weight of 4,150 pounds, a range of 390 miles, and a certified ceiling of 20,000 feet above sea level. It has an out-of-ground effect hover ceiling of 5,400 feet above sea level, and an in-ground effect hover ceiling of 16,500 feet. It climbs at 1,320 feet per minute and cruises at 127 miles per hour.

Based on years of testing, development, and refining of its predecessors, the Bell Helicopter 206L-3 LongRanger III is one of the best handling and most reliable rotorcraft ever produced. It is a pilot favorite, whether new to rotary wing flight or a seasoned professional.
