The Colomban MC-15 Cri-Cri is one of the smallest manned aircraft ever built. it is a single-seat, homebuilt sport aircraft designed to be extremely light, simple, and fun to fly. The Cri-Cri has impressive agility for its size. With piston engines it reaches about 220 km/h (135 mph), while jet-powered versions can exceed 300 km/h (185+ mph). Its range and endurance are limited, but it offers excellent maneuverability and short takeoff performance. Most versions use two small piston engines (commonly JPX PUL 212, about 15 hp each). Some experimental versions are equipped with two micro-turbojet engines, making it the smallest twin-jet aircraft ever flown. The Cri-Cri was designed in the early 1970s by French engineer Michel Colomban. It was created for amateur builders and became famous worldwide for its tiny size, innovative design, and later for its jet and electric variants.

The Colomban MC-15 Cri-Cri is a French experimental ultralight aircraft designed in the 1970s by engineer Michel Colomban and is known for being the smallest piloted twin-engine aircraft in the world. Developed as an evolution of the MC-10 and MC-12 prototypes, the Cri-Cri was intended for amateur construction, featuring an extremely lightweight and simple structure. It is a low-wing monoplane, single-seat aircraft, with two small engines mounted on the wings in a tractor configuration. Its dimensions are exceptionally compact: about 3.9 meters in length and 4.9 meters in wingspan, with an empty weight of less than 80 kg. The standard MC-15 version is powered by two JPX PUL 212 piston engines, each producing around 15 horsepower, chosen to ensure lightness, reliability, and a minimal level of redundancy in flight. Despite the limited power, the aircraft achieves remarkable performance, with a maximum speed of about 220 km/h and a cruise speed of approximately 185โ€“190 km/h. Range is around 450โ€“460 km, with a flight endurance of just over two hours, while the service ceiling reaches about 3,700 meters. The rate of climb is close to 6.5 m/s, which is impressive for an aircraft of this size. The Cri-Cri has also led to jet-powered and electric variants, becoming an icon of ultralight and experimental aviation and a symbol of minimalist engineering and extreme efficiency.
