Ideal for aviation history enthusiasts, VFR flying, and classic aircraft exploration, the Focke-Wulf FW 190 brings a legendary World War II fighter to life within the modern world of Microsoft Flight Simulator.

The FW 190 A-4 was a German single-seat, single-engine, high-performance World War II-era multi-role combat aircraft. It was a notable derivative of the famed FW 190 family that was fast, nimble, and well-armed. The aircraft performed several mission sets for the Luftwaffe, including interdiction, air superiority, light bomber, air-ground attack, close air support, armed reconnaissance, and night operations. Introduced in late 1942, approximately 900 FW 190 A-4s were produced. No examples remain in existence.

The FW 190 A-4 featured a low-mounted main wing, a standard empennage, and a retractable standard undercarriage. It measured 29 feet, 6 inches in length, stood 13 feet tall, and had a wingspan of 34 feet, 6 inches. It was armed with two fuselage-mounted 7.92mm machine guns and four wing-mounted 20mm cannons. It could also carry bombs, rockets, and specialty systems like reconnaissance cameras.

The FW 190 A-4 was powered by a 14-cylinder radial piston aircraft engine that delivered up to 1,700 horsepower (boostable up to 2,100 horsepower for short durations with a methanol-water injection). The engine turned a 3-blade constant-speed propeller. It had a range of 500 miles, a service ceiling of 37,400 feet above sea level, and a climb rate of 3,000 feet per minute. The FW 190 A-4 cruised at 405 miles per hour and had a top speed of 420 mph.
