FICTIONALAEROBATICBUSHSCRAPYARD

4.2/5 (79)

In 2021, Aston Martin starts producing a very limited number of its brand new hypercar: The Valkyrie. It is powered by a Cosworth RA engine: the most powerful atmospheric V12 engine ever made. It's a lightweight engine of barely 200 kgs (450 lbs) that delivers up to 1,000 hp. The Scrapyard Monster is a seriously fun and fictional aircraft. It was born from the question: What if a crazy aeronautical engineer found a brand new Cosworth RA engine and decided to visit a scrapyard to find the rest of the parts he needed? Not with the goal of building a car, but a lightweight, overpowered, ridiculously unsafe, aircraft abomination! This is a hypothetical result: an airplane with a power-to-weight ratio twice that of a Spitfire! You can take off and land from a helipad or the roof of most buildings. You can choose if you want to fly low and slow (down to 60 knots) or high and fast (over 200 knots). And it's not only here for the joke: The Scrapyard Monster is equipped with all the features and systems you could ever wish for, and even more... Here is a list of its main features:

  • Highly detailed 4K PBR textures.
  • Modern engine/propeller simulation.
  • Custom sound pack including the Cosworth RA engine's unique sound.
  • Dual VOR navigation (with ILS), ADF, GPS.
  • Garmin Aera 500 included.
  • Custom autopilot with all the features: NAV1, NAV2, HDG, GPS, APPR, VS, FLC, ALT, etc.
  • 2 variants included: Bush Monster and Sea Monster (on floats).
  • Extreme STOL and aerobatic capabilities.
  • Droppable ballast that greatly affects the performance of the beast.
  • Automatic flaps retraction + automatic ballast remount to assist your helipad landings!
  • Custom needle and screen gauges (with power/torque display and live fuel calculations).
  • Custom effects (various engine smokes, heat blur, contrails, wingtip vortices, water spray, etc.)
  • Aerobatic smoke (5 independent and customizable multi-color smoke emitters).
  • Complex interior lighting with several options and dimmers.
  • A miniature sun as the landing light!
  • Emissive paint effect that works in multiplayer.
  • 3 liveries (for each variant) included.
  • 4 LODs for performance optimization.
  • Tons of options, easter eggs, interactions.
  • Complete and interactive in-game checklists.
  • Very detailed and illustrated PDF manual.

The Scrapyard Monster is a fictional single-engine, single-seat, piston-powered bush and aerobatic aircraft. The versatile machine has exceptional STOL (short take-off and landing) performance and is capable of both low-speed and high-speed cruising. It was created by an unknown aviation enthusiast who assembled it with various parts found at a local junkyard: an old car frame, two ladders, six bicycle frames, and several other non-aviation components. The powerplant is the aircraft’s standout feature, a brand-new marvel of engineering.

In February 2017, British high-performance automobile manufacturer Aston Martin revealed its new hypercar, one with a production limited to just 235 units. Powering this vehicle is a Cosworth RA, a 6.5-liter, naturally-aspirated V12 piston engine that generates up to 1,000 horsepower.

Despite the enormous power, the Scrapyard Monster weighs just 1,830 pounds. To compensate for the power-weight disparity, the aircraft comprises a ballast system; release it at any time to unleash the Scrapyard Monster’s incredible aerobatic capabilities. The aircraft includes a feature that auto-remounts the ballast once back on the ground. This provides extra braking power for short landings.

The Scrapyard Monster is available in two variants, a terrestrial version and an amphibious float version. This is the terrestrial variant. Called the “Bush Monster,” it has a standard (taildragging) undercarriage with bulbous tundra tires on its main gear for backcountry and adventure flying.

Both the terrestrial version and the amphibious version include a complete avionics suite with two radio communication and two radio navigation systems, a modern transponder, ADF equipment and a Garmin Aera 500 GPS touch screen. The panel instrument offers a Horizontal Situation Indicator (HSI) for NAV 1/GPS, a Course Deviation Indicator (CDI) for NAV 2 - both instruments have glideslope support. Each is also equipped with a fully functional autopilot that provides all the lateral and vertical navigation for a full range of flying.

The Scrapyard Monster has a wingspan of 37 feet, an operating speed that ranges from 69 to 253 miles per hour, and a service ceiling of 25,000 feet above sea level. When flown at moderate speed and low power, a single tank of fuel can provide up to 1,726 miles of range.
