The 727-200F is a narrow-body, three-engine jet freighter produced by American aviation manufacturer Boeing. The -200F is a special production cargo iteration of the 727-200 medium- to long-range airliner that is itself a stretched variant of the 727-100. The 727-100, the initial airframe of the renowned Boeing 727 line, took its maiden flight on February 9, 1963 and entered service on February 1, 1964. The 727-200, which is 20 feet longer than the 727-100, took its maiden flight on July 27, 1967 and entered service on December 14, 1967. The -200F freighter debuted in the early 1980s and features a windowless cabin, a strengthened fuselage, specialized floors for cargo, and a large cargo door on the left side of the fuselage. Boeing manufactured a total of 15 of the -200F variant and it holds the distinction of being the final production version of the 727 family.

With all its engines mounted on its tail section, Boeing engineers were able to use the entire wing for lift and drag augmenting devices including spoilers and flaps. This gives the 727-200F exceptional short field performance, optimizing its versatility as a cargo carrier.

The 727-200F measures 153 feet, 2 inches in length, stands 34 feet, 11 inches high, and has a wingspan of 108 feet. It is powered by three Pratt & Whitney JT8D low-bypass turbofan engines that generate up to 16,000 pounds of thrust each. The jet has a range of 2,186 miles, a service ceiling of 42,000 feet above sea level, and a cruise speed of 593 miles per hour.
