Golden Age Simulations Boeing Stearman Model IB75A

The Boeing IB75A Super Stearman is a high-performance version of the iconic Stearman Model 75 biplane, known for its distinctive design and role as a primary trainer aircraft during World War II. It's powered by a 450 horsepower Pratt & Whitney R-985 radial engine, giving it significantly more power and speed than the standard Model 75. The IB75A is a popular choice for aerobatic flying and airshows due to its excellent handling characteristics and impressive maneuverability. It's also a favorite among aviation enthusiasts for its classic design and nostalgic appeal.

Fully native MSFS aircraft All models have been coded with Microsoft Flight Simulator native 'Model Behaviors' animations and built to MSFS SDK specifications to prevent issues with future simulator upgrades. Compatible with MSFS 2024 as a “Legacy” aircraft for use in Free Flight Mode Only ASOBO/MS coding for 2024 does not allow for pilot/passenger avatars to be present in the exterior model of MSFS 2020 models at this present time. Asobo/MS is working on a solution testing in progress. Fully compliant with MSFS native materials, and high definition PBR textures. Modern aerodynamics system. Persistent data archiving of aircraft’s systems wear and tear. Custom recorded, high-definition Wwise sound package by SimAcoustics.

Cockpit 3D virtual cockpits featuring accurately modelled controls and detailed texturing using full PBR materials. Aircraft Monitoring and Maintenance Panel interface supporting Pre-flight Inspection and systems monitoring. Electronic Flight Bag “EFB” controlling aircraft systems and security features. Fully operational front and rear cockpit positions.

3 Variants Tandem Cockpit - Default. Single Cockpit - Racer. Airshow Configuration with Wing Walker.

The Stearman Model IB75A is a single-engine, piston-powered biplane developed and manufactured by American aircraft producers Stearman Aircraft and Boeing. The IB75A is a specific variant of the Model 75, popularly known as the Stearman Biplane. The Model IB75A designates any Model 75L/N/J versions modified according to Inland Aviation Company and is also designated the Super Stearman.

Introduced in 1934 and used as a trainer for pilots of the U.S. Navy, the U.S. Army Air Forces, and the Royal Canadian Air Force, more than 10,000 of the rugged Model 75 biplanes were built in several variants. After retirement from military use, many Model 75s were purchased from surplus as sport aircraft, for crop dusting, and for aerobatics.

The Stearman IB75A measures 24 feet, 9 inches long, features a fixed standard undercarriage, and has a traditional empennage. Each wing has a straight leading edge and a straight trailing edge; the two wings are staggered by 27 inches, with the upper wing forward of the lower wing. The upper wing has a span of 32 feet, 2 inches, and the lower wing has a span of 31 feet, 2 inches. The upper wing has two additional ailerons coupled with the two lower wing ailerons. The biplane features a tandem, 2-place open cockpit, providing unobstructed 360-degree views.

The Stearman Model IB75A is powered by a single 9-cylinder Pratt & Whitney T1B-3 (R-985-AN-1 or -AN-3) radial piston engine that delivers up to 450 horsepower and drives a constant speed, two-blade propeller (typically Hamilton Standard 2B-20). The biplane has a cruise speed of 125 miles per hour, a top speed of 160 mph, and a service ceiling of over 13,000 feet above sea level.

One of the great classics of aviation, the Stearman Model IB75A is a legendary performer that moves through the air with grace and purpose. Aviators of all skill levels will never tire of this beauty; the biplane is as much a natural for slow, easy, and straight flight as it is for aerobatics.
