The PZL-104 Wilga is a Polish short-takeoff-and-landing (STOL) civil aviation utility aircraft designed and originally manufactured by PZL Warszawa-Okęcie.

The Got Friends Wilga 35/80 Series includes a selection of multiple 35 and 80 Wilga variants. Whether you are towing a glider, flying with floats in Canada, or bush flying in Alaska, there is a variant available for any type of flight. Also included in this package is the Forwood Farm Scenery, developed in partnership with Emerald Scenery Design. During development, our team was able to visit Forwood Farm and professionally record sounds from the area as well as the G-BUNC registered Wilga 35A on-site. After the trip, we worked diligently with Emerald Scenery Design to bring this unique location to Microsoft Flight Simulator.

The PZL-104 Wilga 35A is a single-engine, four-seat STOL (short take-off and landing) utility airplane developed by Polish aviation manufacturer PZL. The Wilga, which translates to golden oriole, took its maiden flight on April 24, 1962 and was produced until 2006. More than one thousand were built in a number of variants. PZL manufactured the airframe until 2001, then European Aeronautic Defense and Space Company took over production.

Renowned for its excellent STOL performance and overall reliability, the Wilga has supported a number of civil and military roles through the decades. These include backcountry flying, parachuting, glider towing, flight training, law enforcement, search and rescue, and others. It has operated throughout the world, and has been in the service of over a dozen governments.

The Wilga measures 26 feet, 6 inches in length, stands 9 feet, 6 inches tall, and has an unbraced high main wing with a span of 36 feet, 5 inches. It has a traditional empennage with a large vertical stabilizer and rudder for low-speed yaw authority. It has a fixed traditional undercarriage with tall, reinforced main landing gear that incorporate shock absorbers for austere airfield operations.

The STOL-craft is powered by a 9-cylinder Ivchneko AI-14RF radial piston engine that produces up to 295 horsepower and turns 2-blade propeller. The Wilga can take-off with 400 feet of ground roll and land in 280 feet. It has a range of 420 miles, climbs at 1,240 feet per minute, and has a service ceiling of 14,750 feet above sea level. It cruises at 129 miles per hour and has a maximum speed of 145 mph.

The PZL-104 Wilga 35A was designed and built purely for utilitarian necessity and its looks and performance reflect its engineers’ devotion to operational pragmatism. Pilots love this aircraft due to its ability to get into and out of all types of airfields with ease, and for its power and control once in the sky.
