The F-14 Tomcat is an American carrier-capable supersonic, twin-engine, two-seat, twin-tail, variable-sweep wing fighter aircraft. A large and well-equipped fighter, the F-14 was the first of the American Teen Series fighters, which were designed incorporating air combat experience against MiG fighters during the Vietnam War. The F-14 first flew on 21 December 1970 and made its first deployment in 1974 with the U.S. Navy aboard USS Enterprise (CVN-65), replacing the F-4 Phantom II. The F-14 served as the U.S. Navy's primary maritime air superiority fighter, fleet defense interceptor, and tactical aerial reconnaissance platform into the 2000s. The Low Altitude Navigation and Targeting Infrared for Night (LANTIRN) pod system was added in the 1990s and the Tomcat began performing precision ground-attack missions. The Tomcat was retired by U.S. Navy on 22 September 2006, supplanted by the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet. Several retired F-14s have been put on display across the US.

This rendition for Microsoft Flight Simulator includes:

  • extremely detailed internal and external models for late F-14A and early F-14B aircrafts.
  • multiple high-resolution liveries ranging from early F-14A of the 70's to the retirement of the F-14B.
  • realistic flight model
  • highly detailed avionics, including realistic navigation
  • custom WWise sound package

NOTE: THIS PACKAGE DOES NOT INCLUDE ANY DEPICTION OF THE TOMCAT WEAPONS LOADOUT

The F-14A and F-14B Tomcat are sibling multi-role, supersonic jet fighter aircraft produced by American aerospace legend Grumman Aerospace Corporation. Primarily carrier based, each can and has operated from land throughout the world during their time in service. Each is twin-engine, twin-seat, and features a distinctive twin tail and a variable geometry main wing, frequently called a “swing wing.” Able to carry a wide variety of weapons, both the A and B proved to be adept at a number of mission types, including interdiction, fleet defense, and armed reconnaissance, among others. The F-14A took its maiden flight in December 21, 1970 and was introduced on September 22, 1974, and the B model joined the fleet in 1987.

Both the A and B models feature tandem twin seating, retractable tricycle landing gear, and twin afterburning turbofan engines capable of rocketing either Tomcat to speeds above Mach 2.0.

Both F-14A and F-14B fly with intense strength and finesse, providing aviators an immense range of experiences each time they lift into the skies, with aerial performance limited only by aviator imagination and skill.
