Although the Curtiss P-40F was not the best fighter plane of its era, it was among the most ubiquitous and in large-scale production at a critical period in WWII when fighter planes were needed in large numbers.

The P-40F and later versions of the aircraft were known by the name “Warhawk” in US service. In 1941, one hundred and fifty P-40F’s were supplied to the RAF under Lend-Lease. The RAF assigned them the name “Kittyhawk II”.

The P-40F played a critical role with Allied air forces as an air superiority fighter, bomber escort and fighter-bomber in North Africa, the Southwest Pacific, and China between 1941 and 1944. Its low-cost advantage kept it in production as a ground-attack aircraft long after it was obsolete as a fighter.

The P-40F has been faithfully recreated for Microsoft Flight Simulator with the following features: Fully modelled interior and exterior with interactive 3D cockpit 4K PBR textures Authentic recorded real-world sounds Several liveries representing real-world aircraft CFD Flight Model Removeable cowling with detailed modelled engine Civilian variant with openable storage areas in the wings Fully featured EFB with moving map, Stopwatches, METAR search & Maintenance mode Maintenance mode with Persistence Lite keeping track of your aircraft wear & tear and replacing parts

The P-40F Warhawk is a single-seat, single-engine multi-role military aircraft produced by American aviation manufacturer Curtis-Wright. The P-40 airframe, which was based on the company’s earlier P-36 Hawk, proved to be one of the most successful combat aircraft of World War II. The Warhawk took its maiden flight on October 14, 1938 and by the time its production run ended in 1944, 13,738 had been manufactured. While the aircraft was most notable for it World War II combat successes for the Allies, it served the militaries of more than a dozen countries and remained in service until 1958 (in the Brazilian Air Force).

The P-40F performed a number of military roles during World War II. These included air superiority, interdiction, escort, attack, and light bombing, among others. The Warhawk was armed with six M2 .50 caliber machine guns and could carry up to 2,000 pounds of bombs.

The P-40F measures 31 feet, 9 inches in length, stands 10 feet, 8 inches tall, and has a wingspan of 37 feet, 4 inches. The aircraft is a taildragger, with retractable gear, and it features a standard tail section. It is powered by an Allison V-1710-39 V-12 piston engine that produces up to 1,240 horsepower and turns a Curtiss-Wright 3-blade constant-speed propeller. The Warhawk has a range of 716 miles, has a service ceiling of 29,100 feet above sea level, and climbs at 2,400 feet per minute. It cruises at 308 miles per hour and can race as fast as 334 mph.

Fearsome in appearance, the P-40F Warhawk is an aerial machine that allows aviators to squeeze every ounce of performance out of the airframe. Aviators will rejoice at the broad range of maneuvers the Warhawk can comfortably handle, from slow, tight turns, to blazing fast sprints.
