The next installment of the exclusive CS Collection of the 767 airframe/engine variants is a digital replica of the Boeing KC-767J/A.

The KC-767 combines long-range aerial refueling, cargo transport and multi-role flexibility in a proven widebody built for modern global operations. Initially selected by the USAF to replace older KC-135Es. In 2003 the contract was canceled. The tanker was then developed for Italian and Japanese Air Forces.

The KC-767A is a military aerial refueling and transport aircraft developed and produced by American aerospace firm Boeing. The tanker is based on the company’s 767-200ER, the extended range variant of the initial production version of the 767 wide-body commercial jetliner. The KC-767 took its maiden flight on May 21, 2005. It is in service with the Italian military.

The primary mission of the KC-767A is aerial refueling, where fuel is transferred from holding tanks on the tanker to other military aircraft. The aircraft can lift off with more than 200,000 pounds of fuel and offload more than 100,000 pounds to other aircraft during a single mission.

The KC-767A features a state-of-the-art fuel transfer system comprising a telescoping boom that is remotely steerable by an operator onboard the tanker. An aircraft in need of fuel positions itself behind the KC-767A and the tanker’s boom operator steers the “flying” boom to connect with the trailing aircraft’s in-flight refueling receptacle. The KC-767A’s refueling system can deliver 900 gallons per minute to another aircraft via the boom.

The KC-767A can also be fitted with multiple wing air refueling pods (WARPs), wing-mounted systems with retractable hoses tipped with drogue receptacles for aircraft equipped with in-flight refueling (IFR) probes. This allows the KC-767A to refuel multiple aircraft simultaneously.

The KC-767A also performs military passenger and cargo transport operations. The aircraft can carry up to 200 passengers, 19 standard pallets, or some combination.

The KC-767A measures 159 feet, 2 inches, stands 52 feet tall, and has a wingspan of 156 feet, 1 inch. It is powered by two General Electric CF-6-80C2 high-bypass turbofan engines that each produce up to 60,200 pounds of thrust. The aircraft has a range of 7,600 miles, a service ceiling of 40,100 feet above sea level, a cruising speed of 530 miles per hour, and a top speed of 570 mph.
