The 58 D is an American single-engine multi-role military helicopter. It can undertake several mission sets, including forward observation, armed reconnaissance, convoy escort, close combat attack, close air support, and ISR (intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance) data gathering. Piloted by two, it can carry up to two passengers or a small amount of cargo. It is capable of operating in all types of environments, day or night, and in virtually all-weather conditions.

The 58 D is a conventional helicopter with a single main rotor system, a single anti-torque tail rotor, and skids for landing gear. It has a high visibility canopy and an advanced suite of pilot situational awareness systems, including an all-glass cockpit, a data link, and a mast mounted sight (MMS) that comprises a thermal imager and a visible wavelength imager. It can carry an assortment of weapon systems, including rockets, missiles, and machine guns.

The 58 D measures 42 feet, 2 inches in length, stands 12 feet, 10 inches tall, and has a 4-blade main rotor system with a diameter of 35 feet. It is powered by a turboshaft engine that delivers up to 650 horsepower. The helicopter has a maximum range of 300 miles, an endurance of more than two hours, and a service ceiling of 15,000 feet above sea level. It has a cruising speed of 127 miles per hour and a top speed of approximately 150 mph.
