The F70 Professional is a complex, high-fidelity simulation of the F70 regional jet for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024. Developed using extensive real-world reference material, technical documentation and feedback from experienced F70 pilots and engineers, this study-level aircraft faithfully recreates the performance, systems and operational characteristics of one of Europe's most successful regional jets.

Designed as the smaller sibling of the F100, the F70 offers efficient short- and medium-haul operations with seating for up to 80 passengers and a range of more than 1,500 miles. A state-of-the-art glass cockpit and avionics suite allows the F70 to remain a popular choice with operators around the world.

AIRCRAFT SYSTEMS

  • Electrical systems: Independent APU, engine, and external power sources, and fully simulated electrical buses with load shedding
  • Hydraulic systems: Independent System 1 and System 2 hydraulic systems with realistic pressure, quantity and supply to subsystems, and electrically driven pumps
  • Fuel system: Realistic fuel quantity and consumption based on real world data, with automatic and manual centre tank fuel transfer via centre tanks
  • Air Conditioning and Pressurisation systems: Automatic and manual cabin and flight deck cabin temperature controls, including realistic bleed air demand from the APU and engines, and automatic and manual pressurisation modes
  • Automatic Flight Control and Augmentation System (AFCAS): Fully custom-coded AFCAS with sophisticated LNAV and VNAV modes, including Autoland
  • Automatic Thrust System (ATS): Fully custom-coded ATS
  • Flight Management System (FMS): Two independent Control Display Units (CDUs) supporting lateral and vertical navigation, position determining, automatic and manual navaid remote tuning, manual flight plan entry, flight plan imports via SimBrief, manual navaid and waypoint creation, and much more!
  • Dual Inertial Reference Systems (IRSs): With realistic alignment times based on aircraft latitude
  • Electronic Flight Instrument System (EFIS): Independent displays for captain and first officer
  • Multifunction Display Units (MFDUs): Level 1, Level 2 and Leve 3 alert levels simulated with accurate alert messages, memo messages and procedure checklists
  • Powerplant: Tay 620-15 engine simulation based on real world data

AIRCRAFT MODELLING

  • Studio-quality Tay 620-15 engine sounds
  • Hundreds of flight deck sound effects, including all buttons, switches, stabiliser trim “whooler” and TCAS aural alerts
  • Cabin audio environment featuring announcements, music, chimes and door sounds

FLIGHT DYNAMICS

  • Realistic and accurate performance in the air and on the ground, based on real-world data and input from F70 pilots and engineers
  • Accurate climb and cruise performance modelling, reflecting the aircraft’s strong low-level performance and limited high-altitude characteristics

The F70 Professional is a Dutch twin-engine regional airliner that took its maiden flight on April 4, 1993 and was introduced in October of 1994. It is piloted by two and can carry up to 79 passengers. A total of 47 F70s were manufactured during a production run that spanned from 1992 to 1997. The aircraft served airlines throughout the world and remains in service with a handful.

The F70 measures 101 feet, 5 inches in length, stands 28 feet, 10 inches tall, and has a wingspan of 92 feet, 2 inches. It is powered by two medium-bypass turbofan engines that together generate up to 27,700 pounds of thrust. The jet has a range of 2,315 miles, a service ceiling of 35,000 feet above sea level, and a climb rate of 2,000 feet per minute. It cruises at 461 miles per hour and has a top speed of 518 mph.
