Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-15 (Russian: Микоян и Гуревич МиГ-15; NATO reporting name: "Fagot") is a jet fighter developed for the Soviet Union by Mikoyan-Gurevich OKB. MiG-15 was one of the first successful swept-wing jet fighters, and it achieved fame in the skies over Korea, where early in the war, it outclassed all straight-winged enemy fighters in most applications. MiG-15 is believed to have been one of the most widely produced jet aircraft ever made, with over 12,000 built. Licensed foreign production perhaps raised the total to over 18,000. MiG-15 is often mentioned along with the North American F-86 Sabre as among the best fighter aircraft of the Korean War and in comparisons with fighters of other eras. MiG-15bis is an improved MiG-15 version; the main difference is the improved engine, the Klimov VK-1. Its level speed at sea level was increased by 26 km/h to 1,076 km/h. Noticeable change is a huge improvement of thrust-to-weight ratio which increased the acceleration. it also has a huge impact on its climb rate, it can reach up to 50 m/s at low altitude with full fuel tanks, making the MiG-15bis one of the best climbing planes compared to other planes at similar battle rating. It is now better at performing vertical loop and other similar maneuvers because of the better engine. But new engine has more fuel combustion rate, and less internal fuel tank capacity to reduce flight endurance or range. The other modifications include hydro booster ailerons control to help aircraft keep high roll rate when maneuver, improved avionics, radio navigation, and NR-23 guns has more rapid fire rate. It also served as the starting point for development of the more advanced MiG-17. Now BearStudios takes this flight legend aircraft into MSFS world.

The MiG-15bis is a single-engine, single-seat, multi-role combat jet aircraft developed and manufactured by Mikoyan-Gurevich of the Soviet Union. The Mig-15 took its maiden flight on December 30, 1947 and it was introduced into military service in early 1949. The MiG15bis is a second-generation evolutionary iteration of the original design that uses a more powerful engine and boasts aerodynamic and weapon systems upgrades. The MiG-15 lineage is one of the most produced airframes in history, with over 13,000 manufactured. The aircraft remains in service with the North Korean military where it is used as a trainer.

The MiG-15bis traces its lineage to German aircraft development prior to and during World War II. Upon their defeat, the Soviet Union captured information related to German work on jet propulsion and swept wing designs. MiG engineers used this information to create the jet-powered, swept-wing MiG-15. The aircraft proved exceptionally capable, notably at transonic speeds. It was similar in form, speed, and agility as its American counterpart, the North American F-86 Sabre (which first took to the sky just a few months before the MiG-15, on October 1, 1947). The two clashed in the skies over North Korea frequently, notably over “MiG Alley,” a location above the lower portion of the Yalu River in northwestern North Korea. These were the first jet-on-jet dogfights in aviation history.

The MiG-15bis is an improved version of the original MiG-15 line. It features a more powerful turbojet engine that was developed based on the British Rolls-Royce Nene powerplant. Engineers also added hydraulically actuated ailerons and improved its weapons-carrying ability. The jet performed a variety of missions, including air superiority, close air support, surface attack, and light bombing.

The MiG-15bis measures 33 feet, 2 inches in length, stands 12 feet, 2 inches tall, and has a wingspan of 33 feet, 1 inch. It features a bubble canopy, retractable tricycle landing gear, and a cruciform empennage. It is powered by a single Klimov VK-1 turbojet that produces up to 6,000 pounds of thrust. It has a range of 1,250 miles, a service ceiling of 51,000 feet above sea level, and it climbs at 10,080 feet per minute. It cruises at 520 miles per hour and has a top speed of 611 mph.
