Just Flight are excited to bring you the iconic delta-wing Avro Vulcan, developed by Just Flight's in-house team after comprehensive, hands-on research with a real-life Vulcan B Mk. 2, XM655, based at Wellesbourne Airfield. This product includes the B Mk.2 strategic bomber, K.2 Air-to-Air Refuelling and Maritime Radar Reconnaissance (MRR) variants that saw service with the Royal Air Force.

The Vulcan B Mk2 is an iconic, four-engine, delta-wing strategic bomber which saw service in the UK during the Cold War. The aircraft has been modelled to an exceptional level of detail and features stunning 8k textures, with paint schemes covering its time in RAF service, realistic payloads (including bomb bay fuel tanks and MRR pods), custom ground equipment, and extensive animations ranging from the crew and bomb bay doors, to the distinctive braking parachute.

Model

  • Incredibly detailed exterior and interior models of the B.2, K.2, and MRR variants with 8k textures (4K maximum on Xbox) for the highest possible texture detail and clarity.
  • Realistic animations including the crew door, bomb bay doors, Ram Air Turbine, multi-position airbrakes, and the distinctive braking parachute.
  • Custom ground equipment including chocks, engine covers, Houchin GPU, and a Palouste Air Compressor.
  • Highly immersive exterior and interior lighting, including dimmable red, white and U/V cockpit lighting, and rotating beacons on the exterior.

Cockpit

  • A true to life representation of the Avro Vulcan cockpit environment down to accurately modelled screws, seat belts and wires. All instruments are constructed fully in 3D with smooth animations throughout.
  • Photorealistic textures covering the entire cockpit for an incredible level of immersion.
  • An Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) provides various aircraft options such as the ability to open and close doors, setting the fuel load and performing air-to-air refuelling, loading and unloading payloads, checklists, and calculating descent performance with the top of descent calculator. Navigraph charts and SimBrief flight plan functionality is also included.
  • Automatic aircraft configuration options will get you airborne in seconds.
  • Support for most native MSFS features, such as both Cockpit Interactive System modes (Xbox Controller support), VR support, and interactive checklists.

Custom-coded aircraft systems

  • Complex and custom-coded systems based on real-world flight manuals and extensive input from real-life Vulcan aircrew and engineers.
  • Full system functionality for the normal operations for all systems in the cockpit, including anti-icing, electrical, fuel, hydraulic. landing gear and pressurisation systems.
  • A fully simulated autopilot system with vertical and horizontal modes of operation and a flight director system on the Military Flight System .
  • An optionally fitted GPS unit with MSFS Main Menu flight plan support.
  • Realistic engine simulation including accurate starting procedures for both normal and rapid starts, plus a fully simulated JPT limiter.

Sounds

  • Native (Wwise) sound package taking full advantage of the new MSFS capabilities.
  • Comprehensive, studio quality Olympus 200 Series and Olympus 301 engine sound sets recorded from the real aircraft, including the famous Vulcan howl.
  • Hundreds of flight deck sound effects recorded from the real aircraft.
  • Detailed equipment sounds such as the AAPP, electrical circuits, ground equipment, hydraulic pumps, PFC motors, and much more, all recorded from the real aircraft.

Flight Model

  • Accurate flight model featuring the Vulcan’s iconic flight characteristics.
  • Built in close collaboration with real world pilots and data from real world operating manuals to ensure maximum accuracy.
  • Three separate flight models included to simulate the change in performance of each engine type (Olympus 200 Series, Olympus 202, and Olympus 301).

The Vulcan B Mk. 2 is a four-engine, delta-wing strategic bomber that saw service in the UK during the Cold War. XM655, on which this add-on is based, was the third-from-last Vulcan to be produced for the Royal Air Force. It was delivered in 1964 and was part of the UK’s nuclear deterrent force throughout the 60s and 70s. It is now being preserved by a team of volunteers at Wellesbourne Airfield.

The Vulcan was the second of the V-bombers to enter service, preceded by the Vickers Valiant and followed by the Handley Page Victor. The B.2 was the successor to the earlier B.1, featuring more powerful engines, a larger wing area and improved systems including electronic countermeasures (ECM) and in-flight refuelling capability.

The Vulcan gained fame when it took part in Operation Black Buck, a series of long-range bombing missions during the Falklands War. It was considered the most technologically advanced of the three V-bombers and served with the RAF until its retirement in 1984.
