TRAINERTANDEM COCKPITVARIABLE PITCHAEROBATICPNEUMATIC SYSTEM

4/5 (4)

The CJ-6A is a single-engine, propeller-driven, two-seat primary trainer aircraft. It entered service in early 1965 and has undergone several upgrades, remaining in production to this day with a total output exceeding 2,600 units. Over the past seventy years, the CJ-6A has become the cradle for training pilots in China. As a low-speed propeller aircraft, it is not only safe, reliable, rugged, durable, and easy to handle - making it suitable for primary flight instruction and learning - but also ideal for sport aviation and aerial performances. The CJ-6 has also been exported overseas and is a beloved model among aviation enthusiasts in North America, Australia and Europe. Its flight demonstrations are a common sight at major airshows across North America. This simulation module is based on an early variant of the CJ-6A, with added modern avionics to adapt to contemporary airspace systems.

Features

Fine-tuned Microsoft native flight model and animations designed with reference to the actual aircraft.

Flight dynamics parameters based on actual flight manual data, with testing and feedback from real pilots in China and North America.

Engine sounds recorded from the actual aircraft with Wwise sound package.

Compressed-air-driven engine start, landing gear, flaps, brakes and a functional emergency cold air system (please read the 'Read First.pdf' in advance).

Gravity-fed fuel tanks (simulating unbalanced fuel supply).

Attitude indicator drift

Tandem cockpit, operable from both front and rear seats, with rear-seat control priority consistent with the actual aircraft.

Cold start capability for the rear seat via commands, and remote control of front-seat operations (autopilot function).

Switchable cockpit labels in Chinese and English.

Interchangeable metric and imperial flight instruments (airspeed indicator, altimeter, vertical speed indicator).

Optional modern GPS navigation system (requires installation of the free PMS 750 plugin).

Left-turning constant-speed, variable-pitch propeller for unique flight experiences.

Ground differential braking steering (please read the 'Read First.pdf' in advance).

Support for aerial aerobatic manoeuvres, including smoke display capabilities.

Manual and instructions in Chinese and English.

The CJ-6A is a single-engine, 2-seat, piston-powered monoplane developed and manufactured by China's Nanchang Aircraft Factory (today called Hongdu Aviation Industry Group). Nanchang's engineers developed the CJ-6 specifically as a primary trainer to suit the needs of developing aviators of the People's Liberation Army Air Force. The prototype of the CJ-6 took its maiden flight on August 27, 1958, and was introduced into service in 1960. More than 2,000 airframes have been manufactured in several variants during a production run that began in 1958 and continues to the present day. In addition to China, the militaries of several other nations have operated the CJ-6, including those of North Korea, Albania, Ecuador, Zambia, Laos, and North Korea, among others.

Engineers at Nanchang Aircraft Factory began developing the CJ-6 in the mid-1950s to replace the aging CJ-5 primary training aircraft that the Chinese military used at the time. Introduced in 1954, the CJ-5 was a licensed Chinese version of the Soviet Yakovlev Yak-18 trainer.

The all-metal CJ-6 is constructed of flush-riveted aluminum and has a semi-monocoque fuselage. It features a low-mounted main wing with a polyhedral inverted gull wing profile. It has a tandem cockpit with a high-visibility canopy, a standard empennage, and a retractable tricycle undercarriage. It is powered by a single 9-cylinder Zhouzhou HS-6A radial piston engine that delivers up to 286 horsepower and turns a 2-blade variable-pitch propeller. Armaments that it can carry include two 7.62mm machine guns, rocket launchers, and bombs.

The CJ-6 measures 27 feet, 9 inches in length, stands 10 feet, 10 inches tall, and has a wingspan of 33 feet, 6 inches. It has a range of 430 miles, a service ceiling of 21,000 feet above sea level, and a maximum cruising speed of 190 miles per hour.
