The A330-200 is a twin-engine, wide-body, long-range airliner manufactured by European aerospace consortium Airbus. The twin-aisle -200 is a variant of the company’s A330-300, the first iteration of the A330 line. Airbus began development of the -200 derivative in November of 1995, it took its maiden flight on August 13, 1997, and it entered service in 1998.

The A330-200 has a shorter fuselage than the A330-300 and an enlarged rudder and elevator to compensate for the length difference. The two share identical systems, airframe, wings, flight controls, and avionics.

The A330-200 is crewed by two and can carry up to 406 passengers, although it typically carries between 210 and 246 in standard configurations. The aircraft measures 193 feet in length, stands 57 feet, 1 inch tall, and has a wingspan of 197 feet, 10 inches. It is powered by two high-bypass turbofan engines that each produce up to 71,100 pounds of thrust.

The aircraft has a range of 8,360 miles, a service ceiling of 41,100 feet above sea level, and a cruising speed of 541 miles per hour.
