The A330-800 is a twin-engine, wide-body, long-range jet airliner developed and manufactured by European aviation consortium Airbus. It is one of two variants of the company’s A330neo (New Engine Option) airliner, the other being the A330-900. Piloted by two, it can carry a maximum of 406 passengers, but it typically accommodates up to 260 in standard seating arrangements. The aircraft took its maiden flight on November 6, 2018 and entered service on November 20, 2020.

The A330neo line is an advanced evolutionary iteration of the Airbus A330ceo (Current Engine Option), the prototype of which took its maiden flight on November 2, 1992 and the first production model of which entered service on January 17, 1994. The key upgrade of the A330neo family is the engine used by both variants, the Rolls-Royce Trent 7000. The Trent 7000 is an ultra-efficient powerplant that boasts double the bypass ratio of previous generation engines.

The A330neo line also features an enhanced wing design with a refined spanwise twist that yields more economical flight performance. The two models of the A330neo line have more efficient fuselage fairings, more effective wing slats, and wingtips that more effectively mitigate drag-inducing vortex formation. The debut variant of the A330neo line, the A330-900, took its first flight on October 19, 2017 and it entered service on December 25, 2018. The -800 followed, becoming renowned for ultra long-range intercontinental routes.

The A330-800 measures 191 feet, 6 inches in length, stands 57 feet, 1 inch tall, and has a wingspan of 210 feet. It is powered by two Rolls-Royce Trent 7000-72 engines that each generate a maximum of 72,834 pounds of thrust. The A330-800 has a range of 9,300 miles, a service ceiling of 41,450 feet above sea level, and it has a maximum cruising speed of 571 miles per hour.
