Exploring the Catering Truck in Microsoft Flight Simulator

The simulation experience in Microsoft Flight Simulator has taken a new edge in immersion and ground exploration, thanks to the collaboration between Marine RM and Microsoft. Now we will meet the MAN TGM 18.250 truck in the 4x2 Catering Truck version, which provides players with a unique experience of driving and interacting on the ground. The engine power of 250Bhp is accurately reproduced in accelerations and at top speed.

The main feature of this vehicle is the cargo trailer lift system, which the player has full control over the mechanism, allowing you to adjust it according to the height of the boarding gate of several airline aircraft in operation.

Upon entering the cab of the truck, the player is greeted by a detailed and well-designed interior for an enjoyable simulation. Details such as the dashboard instruments and passenger seats have been faithfully reproduced to offer an authentic VR simulation feel. Here, among the truck's features, the parking brake, direction arrows, external lighting (automatic when driving the vehicle), internal lighting and automated sequential shift are listed as operational functions, providing an immersive and practical driving experience. To the player on Xbox, for example.

Inside the truck, players find palletized loads that can be managed through the "Payload" menu during the simulation. This adds an additional layer of realism, allowing players to take control of the logistical operations related to catering the aircraft.

The sound systems are also a good highlight, based on the sound of the truck in its real world version. This means that players will be immersed in an authentic soundscape, from the roar of the engine to the sounds of ignition and general operations, which enriches the simulation.

In short, Catering Truck for Microsoft Flight Simulator is a milestone in ground vehicle simulation in an aeronautical environment. The attention to detail, from the Lift functionality to the detailed interior and authentic sounds, make this a must-have addition for those looking for a new challenge to their simulation experience. Try this!

How to play:

Thrust lever controls the pedal for acceleration

Wheel brakes to stop the vehicle

Attention: The yoke controls the steering wheel left and right - not the rudder. Therefore, it is necessary to make sure that Settings > Assistance Options > Auto Rudder > On

Parking Brake lever activates or deactivates this function

Flaps control the lift system of the cargo trailer, but there is no such lever in the truck cabin, as this control lever is outside the truck, being necessary to control the Lift through the controls, which causes greater comfort and practicality in a way general

Left and right blinkers, cargo trailer doors and interior lighting are controlled from the steering wheel or truck cab.

The Catering Truck is an integral part of commercial passenger flight operations at all large airports throughout the world. This specialized vehicle transports recently prepared meals from a kitchen facility that is located either at an airport or near an airport to an airliner just prior to its departure.

The Catering Truck consists of a truck cab, frame rails, a containment box for meals, and a scissor lift that can raise and lower the containment box from the truck’s frame rails. Food is loaded at the kitchen facility into the containment box in its lowered position and the vehicle is then driven to the side of the aircraft. The scissor lift then raises the box to the height of the access door of the aircraft and the containment box is then positioned for offloading of meals. The transported food is then stowed in the galley section of the airliner.

The Catering Truck is based off a commercial 4-wheel truck with 2-wheel drive (4X2). It is powered by a 6-cylinder, 6.9-liter, diesel engine that delivers up to 250 horsepower and is mated to an automatic transmission.
