The High-Speed Rescue and Support Boat is a twin-engine, 47-foot motor lifeboat (MLB) manufactured by Textron Marine Systems. Operated by the United States Coast Guard, the versatile and survivable craft can navigate in all types of conditions, including extreme wind and high waves. With a primary mission of search and rescue, it also serves roles including marine environmental protection, maritime law enforcement, recreational boating safety, and firefighting. It can tow other ships up to 150 displacement tons. Over one hundred have been manufactured.

The craft replaced the Coast Guard’s 44-foot MLB with improvements that include greater speed and a design that self-rights in less than ten seconds if it capsizes. The boat is crewed by four and can accommodate up to a total of nine. It features advanced engine and fuel management systems as well as state-of-the-art electronic controls for all shipboard systems, including navigation, communications, and all diagnostics.

The High-Speed Rescue and Support Boat features all-aluminum construction and measures 47 feet, 11 inches in length, has a beam of 14 feet, and has a draft of 4 feet, 6 inches. It is powered by two Detroit Diesel 6V-92TA 6-cylinder diesel engines that produce up to 435 horsepower each and turn 4-blade propellers. It has a range of 230 miles, it cruises at 25 miles per hour, and has a top speed of 29 mph. The vessel can operate in winds up to 69 miles per hour, handle seas as high as 30 feet, and navigate in surf with breaking waves up to 20 feet high.
