The A310-300 is a twin-engine, wide-body jet airliner designed and built by European aviation consortium Airbus. The -300 is an iteration of the A310 which took its maiden flight on April 3, 1982 and entered service in 1983. The A310 is based on the company’s A300, the world’s first two-engine wide-body airliner.

The A310 was manufactured in two variants, the medium-range A310-200, and the long-range A310-300. The two aircraft share the same fuselage, empennage, and basic wing design, with the -300 having improvements of its fuel system and the addition of wingtip fences that increase its maximum take-off weight and range over that of the -200. The A310-300 is crewed by two and can carry a maximum of 280 passengers, although it typically seats between 190 and 230, depending on configuration. The airframe took its maiden flight on July 8, 1985 and entered service in 1986. The jet has primarily served the commercial passenger market, but some have been adapted for cargo and military use. Airbus manufactured a total of 255 A310-300s from 1985 to 1998, and many remain in service throughout the world.

The A310-300 measures 153 feet, 1 inch in length, is 18 feet, 6 inches wide, and has a wingspan of 144 feet. It is powered by two wing-mounted General Electric CF6-80C2 high-bypass turbofan engines that deliver up to 61,960 pounds of thrust each. The airliner has a range of 5,930 miles, cruises at 528 miles per hour, and has a ceiling of 41,100 feet above sea level. The Airbus A310-300 is one of the aviation world’s greatest standouts. A pioneer in the world of twin-engine long-haul airliners, the jet has earned a reputation as eminently capable and reliable. It is also efficient, due in great measure to its use of composites and well-balanced design throughout.
