The PA-28-236 Dakota is a single-engine, 4-seat, general aviation airplane developed and manufactured by Piper Aircraft of the United States. The low-wing, cantilever monoplane is a member of the PA-28 Cherokee family of aircraft, the prototype of which took its maiden flight on January 14, 1960. The PA-28-236, certified on June 1, 1978 and introduced in 1979, boasts several changes and improvements from its predecessors. These include a lengthened fuselage, a wing with a semi-tapered planform, a longer wingspan, and a more efficient engine.
