An Air Force Essential

A New Level for Blackbird Simulations!

Quality & excellence have been the driving force behind Blackbird Simulations' recreation of the T6A ADV.

Few aircraft have made as much of an impact on the modern day US Air Force as the T-6A Texan II.

This bird is a crucial component in the training of pilots since the early 2000's.

This powerful and fully aerobatic aircraft offers an accurate introduction to military primary training.

When we decide to embark on a new virtual aircraft venture, you can bet the final result will ooze passion & exceed the standards previously set for ourselves. The T6A ADV's development has been no different. Countless hours have been poured into making sure our aircraft delivers on all fronts.

When you strap into the T6A ADV, you can expect gorgeous textures & details in every area of the model. In fact, this aircraft will be our HIGHEST fidelity simulation TO DATE, ensuring the T6A ADV will match up to any scenic view you throw at it.

The exterior model isn't the only standout; our interior cockpits have been given the same love, giving you gorgeous textures as you fly from the front (or BACK) cockpit!

With the addition of adjustable in-sim flight settings, you can channel the true spirit of the Texan. Choose between a whole spectrum of virtual flight complexity! Do you want a realistic study level flight equipped with all the failures you can shake a turboprop at? Or would you rather an easy breezy experience, free of in-flight complications? Whatever the case, in our T6A ADV, you fly how YOU want to fly.

A USAF Simulation At Your Fingertips!

The T-6 Texan II is the premiere military aircraft that USAF trainees must master in order to progress to other Air Force training tracks.

What we haven't mentioned yet, is that this is an enhanced version of the simulation we developed for use by the USAF/ Nato in their training regime. Trainees are expected to learn the ins & outs of our simulation before even thinking about stepping into the real aircraft itself. Just like those trainees, you'll learn to overcome mistakes & hurdles while mastering the T6A ADV's dynamic flight profile.

Our inclusion of a failure interface system will allow you to pick and choose which ones are present in the aircraft, simulating unique experiences for you to adapt to and overcome. The flexibility doesn't stop there; we've also incorporated custom control mapping; assign the exact inputs you want to take control of the T6A ADV.

When you boot up our T6A ADV, you're starting right on the virtual runway with the USAF's trainees - do you have what it takes to master it alongside them?

Features & Effects To Enhance Your Immersion

Along with a stellar flight system & model, our T6A ADV also comes equipped to the brim with various effects, features, & dynamic animations for you to enjoy:

  • Engine & propeller blow-out & fire effects: act fast to douse the flames and get your aircraft back in the sky!
  • Tire sparks & wheel blow outs: watch out for your takeoffs & landings!
  • Full circuit breaker system.
  • Option to fly from the front or back cockpit.
  • Automatic co-pilot option: the unoccupied cockpit in flight will maintain configuration; if chosen to fly from the back cockpit, the front virtual co-pilot will make adjustments to maintain a stable flight (flips, switches, adjust fans, lights, etc.) allowing you to stay positioned in the back.
  • In-game tablet: a full range of customizations are just a few clicks away!
  • A 1:1 fully functional GPS.
  • Custom control mapping.
  • Trim device adjustability.
  • Night lighting effects (dozens of customization options here!)
  • Failure system interface: adjust which ones are active & set exact times for them to go off.
  • 12 liveries
  • Pilot model animation
  • Curated sound pack for maximum immersion
  • All analog systems, electric, hydraulic, pressurization/ECS, fuel and oil are fully custom and realistic.
  • Smoke show trails
  • VR Compatible

The T-6A is an American 2-seat, single-engine, military flight training aircraft. It took its maiden flight in 1998, and entered service in 2001 with the United States Air Force. The turboprop-powered T-6A serves as an instructional aircraft for the U.S. Air Force, the U.S. Navy, the U.S. Marine Corps, and the air components of the militaries of nine other countries. The versatile T-6A functions as a basic flight trainer as well as an intermediate trainer for certain military aviation functions.

The concept for the T-6A emerged from the Department of Defense Trainer Aircraft Master Plan. This was a 1989 initiative by the U.S. military to develop a broad system for training pilots in operational fundamentals for next-generation tactical aircraft like the F-22 and F-35. Engineering began in 1996, the aircraft was named in 1997, and the first flight took place on July 15, 1998. The first T-6A was delivered in May of 2000 for instructor pilot training. It became operational for its intended service in 2001, training pilots.

The T-6A features a low-mounted, high-aspect-ratio main wing, a traditional empennage, and a retractable tricycle undercarriage. The aircraft has stepped tandem seating in its cockpit, and it can accommodate a student in either the forward or rear seat. The aircraft can be operated solo from its front seat. It has a bubble canopy that affords 360-degree views for maximum pilot situational awareness, an important consideration for training. The T-6A boasts advanced avionics and flight controls for precision handling. The aircraft is constructed to sustain up to 7 gs and is fully aerobatic capable.

The T-6A measures 33 feet, 5 inches in length, stands 10 feet, 8 inches tall, and has a wingspan of 33 feet, 6 inches. It is powered by a turboprop engine that generates up to 1,100 horsepower and turns a 4-blade, constant-speed propeller. It has a range of 1,036 miles, a service ceiling of 31,000 feet above sea level, and a maximum climb rate of 3,100 feet per minute. It cruises at 320 miles per hour and has a top speed of 364 MPH.
