The A330-900 is a twin-engine, wide-body jet airliner manufactured by European aviation firm Airbus. It is one of two variants of the A330neo series, “neo” designating “new engine option.”

The A330neo series was developed from the A330ceo (“current engine option”) which first took to the sky on November 2, 1992 and entered service on January 17, 1994. The A330-900 features engines with enhanced performance and efficiency over those of the A330ceo. The A330neo also features an improved wing design with more beneficial spanwise twist that engenders better flight performance. It additionally has more efficient fuselage fairings, more effective slats, and enhanced wingtips that better mitigate vortex formation. The A330-900 took its maiden flight on October 19, 2017 and it entered service on December 15, 2018.

The A330-900 is piloted by two and can accommodate up to 460 passengers, although it typically holds between 260 and 300. It measures 209 feet in length, stands 55 feet, 1 inch tall, and has a wingspan of 210 feet. It is powered by two Rolls-Royce Trent 7000-72 high-bypass turbofan engines that each deliver up to 72,800 pounds of thrust. It has a range of 8,285 miles, has a service ceiling of 41,450 feet above sea level, and has a top speed of 571 miles per hour.
