The A340-300 Airliner is a long-range, 4-engine, wide-body commercial airliner. While primarily used for passenger service, some have been converted for freight purposes. The prototype of the airframe took its maiden flight in October of 1991, and it entered commercial service in March of 1993.

Piloted by two, the A340-300 Airliner seats between 250 and 335 passengers in typical configurations and can carry a maximum of 440. It features a glass cockpit, advanced avionics, and fly-by-wire digital flight controls.

The aircraft measures 208 feet, 10 inches in length, stands 55 feet, 9 inches high, and has a wingspan of 197 feet, 10 inches. It is powered by four wing-mounted high-bypass turbofan engines, each of which delivers up to 34,000 pounds of thrust. The A340-300 Airliner has a range of 8,400 miles, a service ceiling of 41,450 feet above sea level, a cruising speed of 541 miles per hour, and a top speed of 568 mph.
