About the Yakovlev MC-21

The Yakovlev MC-21 represents a new chapter in Russian civil aviation, developed by the Yakovlev Design Bureau as part of the Irkut MC-21 program. Conceived as a direct competitor to the Airbus A320neo and Boeing 737 MAX families, the MC-21 focuses on aerodynamic efficiency, passenger comfort, and advanced materials.

At the heart of the design is an innovative composite wing with high aspect ratio, developed by Yakovlev engineers to deliver superior lift-to-drag performance. This advanced wing design enables lower fuel consumption, improved climb performance, and enhanced operational efficiency across short- and medium-haul routes.

The MC-21 features a wider cabin cross-section than traditional narrow-body aircraft, allowing for increased aisle width, larger overhead bins, and improved passenger comfort. Its modern flight deck incorporates large-format digital displays, advanced avionics, and a fully integrated Flight Management System (FMS), providing pilots with excellent situational awareness and streamlined workflows.

As the first Russian airliner designed from the ground up in the post-Soviet era, the MC-21 reflects Yakovlev’s engineering heritage combined with modern aerospace technology, positioning it as a flagship project for the future of commercial aviation.

Designed for discerning simmers, the MC-21 Professional brings this next-generation airliner to life with unmatched realism and attention to detail, offering an immersive and authentic flight experience that showcases the evolution of Russian aircraft design.

Take command of Yakovlev’s most advanced commercial aircraft — your journey into the future of narrow-body aviation begins with the MC-21 today.

The MC-21 is a twin-engine, narrow-body, medium-range jet airliner developed and manufactured by Russian aviation company Yakovlev. The airplane took its maiden flight on May 28, 2017 and it remains in development. Yakovlev has developed three variants of the jet, the MC-21-200, the MC-21-300, and the MC-21-310. Aeroflot, the flag carrier and largest airline in Russia, is the largest intended customer for the MC-21. The airliner is intended to primarily fly domestic routes within Russia, with some future lines between Russia and Asian and European countries.

The MC-21 features composite construction in its main wing and empennage and an aluminum-lithium alloy fuselage. It boasts a glass cockpit, side-stick control, an optional head-up display, and digital flight controls. The MC-21-200 measures 121 feet in length and the MC-21-300 and -310 each measure 138 feet in length. All three stand 38 feet tall and all three have a wingspan of 118 feet. Each variant is powered by two Aviadvigatel PD-14 high-bypass turbofan engines, each of which generates up to 31,000 pounds of thrust. The MC-21-200 can carry up to a maximum of 165 passengers and the MC-21-300 and -310 each can carry up to a maximum of 21l. All three variants have a range of approximately of 4,028 miles, a service ceiling of 40,000 feet above sea level, and a top speed of 590 miles per hour.
