The Boeing P-8A Poseidon is a modern maritime patrol and reconnaissance aircraft, developed for the United States Navy and allied forces worldwide. Based on the proven 737-800 airframe, the P-8A combines commercial jet reliability with advanced military mission capabilities, replacing the legendary P-3 Orion.

Powered by CFM56-7B turbofan engines, the P-8A offers high-speed transit, extended range, and excellent endurance, allowing rapid deployment over vast oceanic areas. The aircraft is equipped for anti-submarine warfare (ASW), anti-surface warfare (ASuW), intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) missions.

Its advanced mission systems include maritime surveillance radar, electro-optical sensors, acoustic processing for sonobuoys, and secure communication suites, enabling detection, tracking, and engagement of surface and subsurface targets. The internal weapons bay and underwing hardpoints allow carriage of torpedoes, missiles, and other mission-specific payloads.

With its combination of speed, sensor integration, and network-centric warfare capabilities, the P-8A Poseidon has become the backbone of modern maritime patrol operations for navies around the world.

Designed for discerning simmers, the Boeing P-8A Poseidon Professional brings this advanced military aircraft to life with unmatched realism and attention to detail, ensuring an immersive and authentic flight experience every time.

The P-8A Poseidon is a military multi-role maritime patrol and reconnaissance aircraft developed and manufactured by American aerospace company Boeing. The aircraft’s core emphasis is on anti-submarine and anti-surface warfare, although it can support a wide range of mission sets. The aircraft took its maiden flight on April 25, 2009, and it entered service in February of 2012. The aircraft serves the navies of several nations, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, and India.

Boeing developed the P-8A Poseidon as a next-generation replacement of the Navy’s venerable P-3 Orion, a turboprop-powered maritime patrol and antisubmarine aircraft. The Poseidon is based on Boeing’s 737-800 Extended Range (ERX) airframe, a member of the 737 Next Generation family of airliners.

The Poseidon has a full suite of sensors to support its wide spectrum of specialized missions. It has several radar systems, including a high-resolution multi-mode radar, an active electronically scanned array (AESA) radar, and a synthetic aperture radar for tracking targets on land and sea. It also has a stabilized electro-optical / infrared multi-spectral imaging system for day / night imaging and a magnetic anomaly detector (MAD) for sensing submarines. It can deploy advanced sonobuoys for submarine detection and can carry Mk 54 torpedoes, AGM-84 Harpoon anti-ship missiles, naval mines, depth charges, and the high-altitude anti-submarine warfare weapon (HAAWC), a torpedo that can be deployed from high altitudes and glide to water’s surface.

The P-8A Poseidon is piloted by two and has a mission crew of seven. The aircraft measures 129 feet, 5 inches in length, stands 42 feet, 1 inch high, and has a wingspan of 123 feet, 6 inches. It is powered by two CFM56-7B27A high-bypass turbofan engines, each of which generates up to 27,300 pounds of thrust. The aircraft has a maximum range of 5,200 miles, a service ceiling of 41,000 feet above sea level, a cruising speed of 509 miles per hour, and a top speed of 564 mph.
