The 750 Citation X is a mid-size, long-range business jet aircraft developed and manufactured by American aviation company Textron Aviation Inc., a subsidiary of Textron Inc. Also called the Citation X or the C750, the aircraft is piloted by two and can seat up to 12 in its cabin. It took its maiden flight on December 21, 1993, and Textron Aviation introduced it in 1996. The company manufactured 310 Citation X airframes during a production run that spanned from 1996 to 2018.

Textron Aviation developed the 750 Citation X at the time as the premier offering of its established Citation lineage of business jets, basing it on the Citation III. The prototype of the first of the Citation line, the Cessna 500 Citation I, took its maiden flight on September 15, 1969, and entered service in 1971. Several models followed, each incrementally more advanced. In the late 1980s, Textron Aviation engineers began planning a next-generation Citation model, an intercontinental business jet that would set new standards for speed, the 750 Citation X.

The company first publicly announced the 750 Citation X in 1990, stating that it would cruise at Mach 0.90 and have a top speed of Mach 0.92. Engineers crafted a sleek fuselage with a T-tail empennage and an aggressively swept main wing. The Citation X met the company’s goals after its debut in 1996, establishing itself as the fastest business jet in the world at the time.

The 750 Citation X measures 72 feet, 6 inches in length, stands 19 feet, 2 inches tall, and has a wingspan of 63 feet, 7 inches. It is powered by two fuselage-mounted Rolls-Royce AE 3007C1 turbofan engines, each of which generates up to 6,764 pounds of thrust. It features Honeywell Primus avionics in the cockpit and boasts a luxurious cabin that can be customized to several configurations. The 750 Citation X has a maximum range of 3,982 miles and a service ceiling of 51,000 feet above sea level.
