Project MAX

C212TURBOPROPPLANECASAC212200

4.2/5 (6)

The C212 Aviocar is a Spanish twin-turboprop STOL (short takeoff and landing) utility transport aircraft. Designed for a wide range of operations, the C212 has been used for cargo transport, passenger flights, paratroop operations, and flights into short or remote airfields. The aircraft has a high-wing, fixed-gear, and unpressurized design, with a rear cargo ramp that makes it well suited to transport and utility work. The C212-200 introduced several improvements over the original -100, including more powerful engines and strengthened landing gear. The aircraft has since been operated by military and civilian operators around the world, including Indonesia, where the type was also produced under license by IPTN/PTDI.

Project MAX C212-200 brings the Aviocar to Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024, with a focus on its systems, handling, and everyday operation. The aircraft includes a custom EFB, detailed engine and propeller simulation, interactive systems, maintenance features, and several configuration options that let you set up the aircraft to suit different C212 variants and equipment. The aim is to make the C212 enjoyable to operate, whether you want to follow the aircraft's procedures closely or simply load up and fly.

The C-212-200 Aviocar is a twin-engine, turboprop-powered, light STOL (short take-off and landing) military cargo aircraft developed by Spanish aerospace company CASA (Construcciones Aeronáuticas SA). The prototype of the aircraft took its maiden flight on March 26, 1971 and the first production versions entered service in May of 1974. CASA, and then subsequent aircraft producers including Airbus Military, manufactured several variants, beginning with the C-212-100 series. The C-212-200 is a stretched version of the C-212-100 with more powerful engines to accommodate higher loads. Crewed by two, the C-212-200 can carry up to 28 passengers. The Aviocar has proven exceptionally versatile and robust with a large number of civil and military users throughout the world. Several airframes remain in service throughout the globe.

CASA developed the C-212 Aviocar in the 1960s to provide a highly versatile, rugged, multi-role aircraft for the Spanish Air Force that could be operated out of short and unimproved airfields. Engineers created an aircraft featuring a boxy fuselage with a rear loading ramp, a high-mounted high-aspect-ratio main wing, a standard empennage, and a fixed tricycle undercarriage. Upon its operational debut, the Aviocar proved exceptionally well suited for several mission sets, including transport, paratroop insert, aerial resupply, medical evacuation, maritime patrol, surveillance, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, and special operations. In addition to military operators, several civil operators have used the C-212 for passenger and cargo transport.

The C-212-200 measures 53 feet in length, stands 21 feet, 8 inches tall, and has a wingspan of 66 feet, 7 inches. It is powered by two wing-mounted Garrett TPE331-10R-513C turboprops, each of which generates up to 900 horsepower. The C-212-200 has a range of 1,664 miles, a service ceiling of 26,000 feet above sea level, a cruising speed of 186 miles per hour, and a maximum speed of 230 miles per hour.
