4.6/5 (10)

The Royal Australian Air Force received 215 D's and 84 K's, as well as 200 built in Australia and others received from the United Kingdom. These aircraft would see combat in various theatres of WWII as well as service in Korea and beyond. They were retired from service in the late 1950's.

These liveries attempt to preserve some of the history of the iconic P-51 in Australian service.

This pack includes five RAAF examples of Australian assembled P-51’s:

  • A68-1 - The first Australian assembled P-51, also designated CA-17 Mk 20. It was used in atomic bomb tests in Australia, before being salvaged and finding a new lease of life in America. It remains airworthy, flying as N51WB in the USA.
  • A68-23 - CA-17 Mk 20 of 25 (City Of Perth) Squadron, RAAF Pearce, Australia 1952.
  • A68-113 - CA-18 Mk 21 of 10 Squadron RAAF. This aircraft was used as a Target Tug and had a distinct yellow and black colour scheme. This aircraft would later be registered in the UK and was to be flown back to the UK by Ron Flockhart in his second attempt at a Sydney to London record breaking flight. However, during a test flight in 1962 the aircraft encountered cloud and crashed in the Dandenong Ranges.
  • A68-141 - CA-18 Mk 23 of 24 (City Of Adelaide) Squadron, RAAF Edinburgh, Australia, 1956.
  • A68-193 - CA-18 PR Mk 22 of 22 (City Of Sydney) Squadron, RAAF Richmond, Australia, 1953. This was one of a number of Mustangs which were built for the Photo-Reconnaissance role with an oblique camera mounted in the fuselage.

This texture set is for the base P-51D Racer included as part of the Reno Expansion for Microsoft Flight Simulator. It is NOT compatible with other P-51D models including the aircraft featured as part of the Unlimited Class Addon.
