AUTOGYRORADIALGYROPLANEPROTOTYPECONCEPT

3.5/5 (73)

The Bulldog Autogyro was a one off. It's unknown if the prototype flew but flight testing was supposed to have happend around July 2015. It was publicly introduced at the AERO Friedrichshafen airshow in 2015.

The designers did an amazing job at creating a modern Autogyro with a classic look, mainly made from carbon fibre the Bullldog is light and comes into the Ultralight category.

The Bulldog features a single main rotor, a two-seats-in tandem open cockpit with two windshields, conventional landing gear and a nine-cylinder, air-cooled, four-stroke, dual-ignition 150 hp (112 kW) Rotec R3600 radial engine in tractor configuration. The aircraft fuselage is made from composite materials.

The Bulldog is a tandem two-seat, piston-powered autogyro. The fuselage is all-composite construction (primarily carbon fiber), and it features a tractor configuration engine-propeller system for thrust. The body comprises a curved mast that serves as a vertical stabilizer and it has a small fixed horizontal stabilizer. Its landing gear is a traditional, taildragger design. It has an engine cowling and design lines that are evocative of the Golden Age of Flight, the interwar years between the mid-1920s and the mid-1930s.

Both the thrust propeller and the rotor are two-blade, fixed-pitch, wood designs. The Bulldog uses a 9-cylinder radial piston engine that delivers up to 150 horsepower. The aircraft has a system that turns the rotor system up to 300 rpm prior to takeoff roll.
