4.3/5 (330)

The RV-14/14A is the latest aircraft design from Van’s Aircraft, Inc. continuing and improving upon the legacy of the previous models. Created with the help of the manufacturer, the SWS RV-14/14A is a faithful recreation of the best kit aircraft in the market. A carefully created 3D model captures all the fine nuances of the aircraft's construction, while detailed animations help bring it to life. Authentic sounds were recorded from the real aircraft. The flight model was created after flying in the real aircraft and put through scrutiny by RV-14 pilots, ensuring that the performance and feel is as close as Microsoft Flight Simulator allows.

The SWS rendition of the Van's Aircraft RV-14/14A features:

  • Accurate 3D model & animations
  • Taildragger and tricycle variants
  • Three generic and three custom liveries with matching interior colours
  • Realistic flight model tested by RV-14 pilots
  • Free-castering nose wheel (RV-14A)
  • Full GTN750 integration*
  • Opening canopy
  • Functional canopy ejection switch
  • Realistic backlighting and floodlighting
  • Realistic exterior lighting
  • Flutter animations from propwash
  • Visible pilot and passenger in the cockpit (toggleable)
  • Weight-based visibility of baggage behind the seats
  • Animated air conditioning vents
  • MSFS rain & icing effects included

Note: GTN Integration for PC only, requires either PMS50 GTN or TDS GTNXi products. Free compatibility modifications available separately at the RV-8 product page at www.simworksstudios.com under "Free Extras"

The RV-14 is a two-place, single-engine, light sport kit airplane from Van’s Aircraft of the United States. Introduced in 2012, the RV-14 is optimized for aerobatics, but has proven itself for a range of flying, notably touring.

The RV-14 features all-aluminum construction, a standard undercarriage, and a traditional empennage. The RV-14 measures 21 feet, 1 inch in length, has a low-mounted straight main wing with a span of 27 feet, 0 inches, and features side-by-side seating. The aircraft is powered by a single four-cylinder, four-stroke Lycoming IO-390 engine that generates up to 210 horsepower and turns a Hartzell constant-speed propeller. The RV-14 cruises at 205 miles per hour, has a top speed of 218, and stalls at 54. It has a service ceiling of 26,000 feet above sea level and climbs at a rate of 2,050 feet per minute.

The Van’s Aircraft RV-14 pushes the boundaries of aviation versatility, allowing a range of flight profiles on each launch. Pilots can choose to cruise the heights leisurely, practice their emergency and other skills, or jump into aerobatic maneuvers that push the aircraft to its +6 to -3 g limits.
