VIRTUALCOLDASH 8DE HAVILLANDTURBOPROPBOMBARDIER

5/5 (1)

The De Havilland Dash 8 has proven to be a popular player in the regional turboprop airliner market. De Havilland Canada began development of the Dash 8 in the late 1970s in response to what it saw as a considerable market demand for a new generation 30 to 40 seat commuter airliner. The first flight of the first of two preproduction aircraft was on June 20 1983, while Canadian certification was awarded on September 28 1984. The first customer delivery was to NorOntair of Canada on October 23 1984. Like the Dash 7, the Dash 8 features a high-mounted wing and Tail, and has an advanced flight control system and considerable full-length trailing edge flaps. Initial Dash 8 production was of the Series 100, which was followed by the Series 100A in 1990. The 100A introduced a revised interior with extra headroom and PW120A turboprops. The Series 100B was offered from 1992 with more powerful PW121s for better climb and airfield performance.

Virtualcol takes pride in presenting the initial version of a package of three models of this series, the DASH 8-100. This model has analogue instruments but incorporates the version 100B FMS used in all subsequent versions. This model includes:

  • Sound worked based on propeller movements

  • FMS (UNS) developed by Working Title Studio

The Dash 8 Series 100 is a twin-turboprop monoplane produced by de Havilland Canada for regional airline use. Able to accommodate up to 39 passengers or 8,000 pounds of cargo, the Series 100 was the first of the Dash 8 lineage. The aircraft took its maiden flight in June of 1983 and de Havilland Canada made their first deliveries to airlines in October of the following year.

The Dash 8 Series 100 features a high wing with a span of 85 feet, a T-tail empennage, and retractable tricycle landing gear. Powered by two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW120A turboprop engines turning four-bladed propellers, the aircraft has a cruising speed of 309 miles per hour, a range of 1,250 miles, and a service ceiling of 25,000 feet above sea level.

An aircraft with a bold, utilitarian look, the Dash 8 Series 100 provides pilots with both performance and forgiving grace. Its powerful engines and large control surfaces provide positive control in all conditions and at all speeds. Whether cruising from point to point, or practicing takeoffs, landings, and emergency procedures during training for larger aircraft, the de Havilland Canada Dash 8 Series 100 delivers.
