Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, formerly known as Zia International Airport, is the largest and most prominent international airport in Bangladesh. It commenced operations in 1980, with the main runway and central portion of the current terminal building being inaugurated by then President Ziaur Rahman as Dacca International Airport. The airport serves as the primary hub for Biman Bangladesh Airlines, the national flag carrier, as well as most private airlines in Bangladesh including, Novoair, US-Bangla Airlines, and AirAstra.
