Frasca Field is located at the northern edge of Urbana in Champaign County, Illinois, United States. Its proximity to the University of Illinois, which is known for its landscape and architecture, as well as the distinctive landmarks of Champaign County, makes Frasca Field a perfect location for general aviation flights.

The airport also is the site of the Frasca International headquarters, a North American manufacturer of flight simulation training devices, with over 3.000 devices delivered in approximately 70 countries around the world. Frasca International was founded in 1958 by Rudy Frasca.

The Flight Simulator history started right there in Champaign County, when Bruce Artwick graduated from the UIUC in 1977, and released the first version of Flight Simulator for the Apple II in the following year.
