Santarém International Airport - Maestro Wilson Fonseca (IATA: STM, ICAO: SBSN) serves the city of Santarém and the region. It is currently the sixth busiest airport in the northern region of Brazil. It plays an important role in strengthening Brazil's ties with the world due to its geographical location between Belém and Manaus and is an alternative for international flights. It is located 15 km away from the city center and has easy access via the Fernando Guilhon Highway. It was inaugurated on March 31, 1977 under the administration of the Aeronautics Command and transferred to the administration of Infraero on March 31, 1980. The Airport operates domestic flights to Belém and Manaus by Azul, Gol and MAP. In addition to Recife by Azul, Altamira and Parintins by MAP and Brasília by LATAM.
