Located in the municipality of Aquidauana, in the region known as Pantanal da Nhecolândia, 250 km from Campo Grande (MS).

Of its eight thousand hectares, seven thousand have been legally protected since 2001, when the Fazenda Rio Negro Private Natural Heritage Reserve (RPPN) was created. Rio Negro is one of the most traditional farms in the region and became famous for serving as a location for the Brazilian soap operas "Pantanal" (1990 and 2022) and "América".

The Pantanal is the largest continental wetland on the planet. It occupies part of the states of Mato Grosso and Mato Grosso do Sul in Brazil and extends through Bolivia and Paraguay.
