Cacoal Airport – Capital of Coffee (IATA: OAL, ICAO: SSKW) is the 2nd busiest airport in the Brazilian state of Rondônia. Located in the city of Cacoal, it also serves several neighboring cities, such as Pimenta Bueno, Espigão do Oeste, Rolim de Moura, Ministro Andreazza and São Miguel do Guaporé. It was inaugurated on March 27, 2010 and is located at an altitude of 249 meters. The Cacoal airport project was born in 1990, during a hearing of Deputy Nilton Capixaba with the former President of the Republic, Fernando Henrique Cardoso. On the occasion, the parliamentarian presented to the president a project for the construction of the airport in the city, however, it was only 20 years later that the airport was built. The project required investments of more than R$ 20 million. [2] The old Cacoal airport was deactivated by resolution of the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) on June 3, 2009 and the new airport was inaugurated the following year. Cacoal Airport is one of the most modern in the North region. The runway has 2100 meters. The airport also has security equipment, internet, telephone, x-ray machine and the employees who serve on site were all approved in the course held by the National Civil Aviation Agency.
